Surrounded by grace
32 weeks. How am I already 8 months?

Total weight gained: 17-ish lbs. Major weight gain from last week.

Maternity clothes: No. Now I refuse to buy any, just sticking to stretchy dresses!

Best moment of the week:  A weekend off with the husb- finally!

Movement: Yes and ouch! She’s kicking my ribs and bladder all the time. Love feeling her move, but ease up baby girl!!

Sleep: No. Have a body pillow now (thanks to my MIL), so hoping that helps! It’s hard to fall asleep and even harder to wake up.

Cravings: Nothing notable this week. It is just getting hard to eat more than a few bites in a sitting because baby girl is taking up so much space! I am trying to eat small and often, but that’s not always the most convenient. (especially on Memorial Day weekend when your FIL cooks a yummy Kobe brisket)

Aversions: Chicken salad- which is weird because for awhile that’s what I really wanted!

Morning sickness: No, now it is just the uncomfortableness of the third trimester that is kicking my butt.

Gender: Sweet baby girl.

What I miss: My wardrobe and my waistline!

What I am looking forward to: The weekend- although the husb is on-call, I am hoping to get a lot crossed off the to-do list: Finishing thank-you notes (I feel so bad that this is taking me so long!!), wash baby girl’s clothes, pack hospital bag, etc.

Weekly wisdom: I need some- on how to deal with being uncomfortable for what could be 7ish more weeks!!

Hospital bag

So, it’s getting to that point where “pack hospital bag” has been added to the to-do list. I’ve read tons of blogs, but I want to know…What do I really need? What can I do without? How many outfits (and what size) does baby girl need?

So how do I reply to a reply on one of my posts?
31 weeks- Down to the single digit weeks left!
Total weight gained: 14-ish lbs.
Maternity clothes: No. Its amazing what a rubber band can do to your jeans. I may always do this!
Best moment of the week:  Finally having some energy! My doctor did some blood work and determined that I am anemic (everything is fine with baby girl- she is just stealing all my iron), so I am taking iron pills an voila! I feel so much better- not nearly as tired as before. Not sure if it is a coincidence or what, but I will take it!
Movement: Yes! She is kicking my ribs all the time!
Sleep: No. Pregnancy insomnia is in full-force.
Cravings: Waffles. I have had them for dinner on more than one occasion.
Aversions: Nothing really. The smell of onions is still not pleasing though.
Morning sickness: I wouldn’t call it morning sickness, but I have been getting some “blah” feelings- a little headache here and there mixed with a little nausea and heartburn :(
Gender: Sweet baby girl.
What I miss: In addition to the usual (wine and laying on my stomach)  I really miss not having a backache or sore feet! The heating pad and stretching are my best friends.
What I am looking forward to: A weekend with the husb (yes, it is only Tuesday) So glad he finally has some time off.
Weekly wisdom: Pregnancy brain is for real! If something is important, write it down. immediately.

We rarely hear about the little acts of love that exist between partners, where there are no plot twists or last-minute obstacles. There are few films, few books about a woman who packs a lunch for her husband every morning and cuts the crust off his sandwich, or the man who works an extra job at night for two years so his boyfriend can attend law school, or the couple who lies in bed at night and asks each other how their day was and really listens. Sure, that might be a component of the story, but it is sure to be drowned out by the conflict and the thrill that we want to see. And there is nothing wrong with that, we like excitement. But sometimes it’s hard not to miss the attention paid to the little, unglamorous acts of love that make up a true partnership.
30 weeks!?!?
Total weight gained: 13-ish lbs. I feel like I am growing by the minute.
Maternity clothes: No. Thank goodness for jeggings and belly bands!
Best moment(s) of the week:  1) Another shower and spending Mother’s Day with my mom, MIL, and SIL. Baby girl has some fabulous ladies in her life! 2) Getting to see baby girl’s face for the first time on our 3D ultrasound. So precious.
Movement: All the time.
Sleep: Getting a little better, but lately the nesting has been keeping me up late and getting me up early. I have actually had quite a bit of energy though, so no complaints here.
Cravings: Any drink with lime!
Aversions: Nothing really.
Morning sickness: Nope.
Gender: Sweet baby girl.
What I miss: Wine (this will always be on my list), whitening my teeth, and laying on my stomach.
What I am looking forward to: Getting the nursery organized and a much needed relaxing weekend ahead.
Weekly wisdom: Write everything down. With this pregnancy brain, I forget things in a second!

29 weeks
Total weight gained: 12-ish lbs- only going up from here!
Maternity clothes: No. And now I feel like I should just hold out for the next 10 weeks if I can!
Best moment of the week: Another shower. Baby girl is very blessed to have so many people who care about her already!
Movement: All the time. It keeps me up at night which could be a sign of what’s to come after she is born.
Sleep: I guess they were right about how the third trimester brings back symptoms of the first trimester. Definitely pretty fatigued and get worn out quicker than ever before. However, I am in major nesting mode so the energy I have had has been directed at getting things on order around the house. (Sorry for driving you crazy husb!)
Cravings: None really. It’s getting harder to eat because my stomach is so squashed, not to mention this crazy heartburn. I mean seriously?!
Aversions: Getting better with onions, just don’t like their lingering smell.
Morning sickness: A little queasiness here and there, but nothing major.
Gender: Girl, girl, girl!
What I miss: Wine (this will always be on my list), whitening my teeth, and laying on my stomach.
What I am looking forward to: Getting more things done around the house and another baby shower this weekend! Can’t wait to see everyone.
Weekly wisdom: Hmm…I will say that my nursing class this weekend was really helpful. I thought it might be a waste of precious weekend time, but I think I learned a lot and it definitely gave me some peace of mind.

I had a work shower this weekend, which also happened to be Cinco de Mayo. (ah, I would’ve loved a margarita!) Anyway, this is what I wore- a very inexpensive dress from Forever 21 and some wedges I have had for awhile. It’s a wilder print than I usually go for, but I thought it was appropriate for the festivities, plus it gave me a little color. I need some sun!
